The main method of making a course required is to make the specific Learning Path that contains the course required. By doing making the learning path required, it's also ensured that this required course shows up on reporting.

How to make a course required via Directed Learning

In the Learner's settings in the administrative dashboard, the assignments tab allows you to select courses to directly assign to them. By doing this, it makes the course required for the learner.

NOTE: Directed Learning items will not appear on reports

How to make a course required for another course

Sometimes, certain courses you have may need to be taken in a specific sequential order. In the Learning Path housing the courses, utilize the prerequisit function seen below.

Each of these courses has a requirement. One is required for Two, One and Two  for Three and so on to Five. To take Five, all four prior courses will need to be completed. Taking a look at Course Three, we see that One and Two are selected, but not Four and Five, because the Four and Five also have pre-requisites set for them to have completed Course three beforehand.

This structure will be noted for the learner taking a course.
