Frequently asked questions regarding Knowledge Anywhere's handling of data in the LMS


  • Where is the server used for the LMS located?
    • Datacenters / Servers are located in the mainland USA

  • How and where personal data is stored?
    • How: PII is stored in the database.
    • Where: All data is stored on AWS (Amazon Web Services) servers, database servers are protected by a VPC and utilize Hard drive encryption for security.
  • How long is personal data is stored?
    • Indefinitely unless requested for deletion, or for up to six months after a contractual agreement between Knowledge Anywhere and a customer has ended.

  • What is the deletion process for data?
    • The client (you) would make the request and describe the scope of data you want outright deleted. A data deletion agreement would be drafted and need to be endorsed by authorized agents of each party. We would then process the request in a timely manner, and get that data deleted. 
  • What are the deletion and storage periods?
    • Indefinite otherwise requested.
    • Data backup is retained on a monthly basis.

  • How is data saved?
    • Data is committed to SQL databases.  Files are uploaded to AWS S3.

  • What personal data is stored?
    • Firstname, Lastname, and email address are the primary personal datapoints stored.
    • Other personal data points stored will be dependent on any custom user profile fields that are setup and used by the LMS customer.
    • We do not store any account information such as credit card numbers.

  • Is personal data passed on to third parties?
    • No. Knowledge Anywhere does not and will not share or sell personal user data to third parties. Only when data is required for LMS operations with a third-party integration (i.e., ecommerce integrations such as Recurly and PayPal), will it be shared, but limited to only the data points that are absolutely necessary.

  • Am I able to request a data processing agreement?
    • Absolutely! We are more than happy to work with you regarding certain processes around your data.
