Product Roadmap - How Knowledge Anywhere Chooses New Features

Knowledge Anywhere understands the importance of staying ahead of the curve with new features and functionalities. In this article, we will take a behind-the-scenes look at how Knowledge Anywhere chooses new features for our LMS.

Our product roadmap is our plan for future LMS features and capabilities. An item can get on the roadmap in different ways:

  • Customer feedback - We listen to customers. We use a variety of methods to obtain customer feedback, including LMS surveys, user testing, and conversations with and feedback from our customers. We take all feedback seriously, whether it's a small suggestion or a major pain point, and many of our features are the result of customer suggestions. 

  • Industry trends and innovations - We follow industry thought leaders and keep a close eye on emerging technologies.
  • Analysis of LMS usage - We also analyze data on user behavior and usage patterns to identify any areas that could be improved.
  • Keeping technology current - Technology is constantly evolving, and we ensure we are using the latest, safest technology for our LMS and its supporting infrastructure. These changes may occur behind the scenes and not be directly visible to our customers.
  • Compliance with certifications - We are ISC 270001, Title 21 CFR Part 11, and SOC Type II certified, and make changes as necessary to maintain those certifications.

We evaluate the effort required to develop a new feature against its potential impact on our business and customers. We consider factors such as customer retention, value, and potential future sales revenue based on the new feature. Our product development team talks cross-departmentally with sales, support, developers, and account managers to get a feel for how we can add value to our customers' experience while also improving our bottom line.

From here, we place all potential feature requests and ideas into a roadmap planning platform and estimate each idea's development effort vs. business impact. This creates a chart, showing where features fall on a weighted matrix. Then, the product development team discusses and chooses the top priorities in the next upcoming sprints, continuing additional research and creating wireframes before introducing them to the development team.
