Sometimes it's necessary to merge user accounts, such as if a user accidentally creates two accounts in the LMS. Merging accounts marks the merged user account inactive and transfers any course completions and course comments to a specified active user account. Incomplete or Not Started course records will not be merged.
To merge user accounts
- Open the Administrative Dashboard
- From the Users tab, select Merge Users in the sidebar menu
- On the Merge Users page that appears, use the Merge From User box on the left to select the "merge from" user and use the Merge To User box on the right to select the "merge to" user.
Note: You can search by Username (email address), First Name, Last Name, and/or User Status - In the Merge From User box, enter search terms for the user you want to merge from and then select Search
- From the list of search results, select the check box next to the user you want to merge from.
Note: To confirm that you are selecting the correct user, select View Profile - In the Merge To User box, enter search terms to find the user you want to merge to and then select Search
- From the list of search results, select the check box next to the user you want to merge to and then select Merge Selected Users.
Note: To confirm that you are selecting the correct user, select View Profile - A confirmation message appears to confirm that you want to make the "merge from" user inactive and transfer course completions and comments to the "merge to" user. Select OK on the confirmation message.
- A message appears to confirm that the two user accounts are now merged. The "merge from" account is now inactive. The "merge to" account remains active and now contains course completions and comments from the "merge from" account.
