The LMS provides the following options for learners or admins to reset passwords:
- Option 1: learners can reset their own passwords using the Forgot Password link on the login page
- Option 2: learners can reset their own passwords from their learner home page in the LMS
- Option 3: Admins can reset a password for a learner
- Option 4: Admins can send learners a Password Reset email for learners to reset their own passwords
Option 1: To reset a password using the Forgot Password link (learners)
- On the LMS login page, select Forgot your password?
- On the Forgot Password page that appears, enter your email address and then select Submit.
- A Reset Password email with a confirmation code will be sent to the email address entered above
Note: Check the spam folder if the email is not received within 10 minutes. - On the Reset Account Password page, copy and paste the confirmation code from the email into the Confirmation Code field, enter a new password, confirm the new password, and then select Submit.
Note: This screenshot is from Outlook. The message may look slightly different depending on your email service. Passwords are case sensitive and must consist of at least 8 characters containing at least: one UPPERCASE letter, one lowercase letter, one number, and one special character !"#$%&'()*+,-\/:;<=>?@\[]^_`{|}~ - When the password is accepted, the learner will be instructed to log in using the new password.
Option 2: To reset a password from the learner home page (learners)
Note: This feature is not available for learners who log in through SSO
- Log in to the LMS
- In the upper-right corner, select your learn icon and select Profile.
- On your Profile, select Password.
- On the New Password screen that appears, enter a new password, re-enter the password to confirm it, and then select Save Password.
Option 3: To reset a password for a learner (admins)
- Open the Administrative Dashboard and select the 3rd box from the top (the one with two people in it) on the left side of the Dashboard.
- On the Search Learners page that appears, enter some search criteria for the learner you want to edit, and then select Search.
- On the Search results page, select Edit next to the learner you want to edit
- On the learner's profile page that appears, select the Account Settings tab.
- Next to Change Password, enter a new password. Next to Confirm Password, re-enter the same password. Then select Save.
Note: You can choose to select the Force Password Change checkbox, and upon attempting to log in, the learner will get a message that they need to change their password and use the Forgot Your Password option at login.
Option 4: To send learners a Password Reset email (admins)
Note: This method is recommended over changing a password for a learner.
- Repeat steps 1 through 5 from Option 3 above.
- Next to Send Password Reset Email, select Send.
- The Password Reset email will be sent to the learner's email address associated with their profile
Note: The email instructions contain a Confirmation Code that expires when used or at the end of 24 hours
